Between the years 1914 and 1918, about 250 Old Kingstonians , all boys, served in
the armed forces of Great Britain and her Empire. Of these, just under 15 percent
of them died. Shortly after the end of the war the school honoured them by erecting
a memorial plaque in the hall. On it are the names of the thirty eight boys and
masters of Kingston Grammar School who died during the Great War.
This area of our Online Archive aims to remember the contributions of all those
who served, including the 38 were killed. It is an ongoing project and will be added
to over the course of the next 4 years as we remember the centenary of this monumental
conflict.
We welcome contributions from Old Kingstonians, Kingston-upon-Thames residents,
or anyone who has more information about the activities of Old Kingstonians during
this time. Please contact the Archivist, Mrs Joanne Halford at archives@kgs.org.uk
Our thanks go to the staff and volunteers of Kingston Borough Archives who have
provided valuable help and information.
