Kingston Grammar School Online Archive

Welcome to our Online Archive

Welcome to the Kingston Grammar School digital archive, made possible by a generous grant from the Old Kingstonian Association.

While the School dates back to its foundation by Royal Charter in 1561, our printed records begin from around the time the School moved to its new premises in London Road in 1878. The Annual Register began publication in 1883 and was succeeded in 1907 by The Kingstonian, which continues to this day. These magazines paint a full picture of school life over the past 130 years: its academic achievements, sporting successes and rich co-curricular life. The digital archive also includes the Newsletter, which began publication in 1992, Speech Day and Prizegiving programmes from 1901 and a number of pupil magazines, including Red and Grey, first produced in 1939. New material, including photographs, will continue to be added.

Whether you are an Old Kingstonian looking back on school days, a family researcher whose forbears had a connection with KGS or a social historian investigating the heritage of Kingston and its grammar schools, we hope you will enjoy browsing this rich and fascinating resource and will find what you are looking for. Registration is free, though there is a small charge for printing. Feedback would be much appreciated.
